Is it possible for everyone to be hypnotized? No. Everyone can not be hypnotized. Usually children under the age of five, disabled persons with an I.Q. below 90, the senile, or someone under the influence of mind altering drugs can not be hypnotized. It is a common misconception that only the weak minded can be hypnotized. The opposite is actually the truth. Usually people with a high I.Q. can go in to a trance easier than someone with a low I.Q.
Will I lose consciousness? No. Many believe that people who are hypnotized are unconscious. This misunderstanding may be attributed to the way hypnosis has been portrayed on television or because of stage shows.
Do I have to surrender my will to the hypnotist? No. Once again, because of the way hypnosis has been portrayed in fictional television and movies, many believe that they must surrender their will to the hypnotist. In fact, the person is in complete and total control of their minds during the session.
Can I be hypnotized to do something that I don't agree with? No. Your mind is very powerful and complex. In fact you have a built in filter, called the critical factor, to keep things from entering your subconscious. During hypnosis, the person allows their subconscious to be open to suggestion. If a suggestion were to be made that did not go along with the conscious mind, the critical factor would keep that suggestion from entering the subconscious mind.
Will I reveal all of my secrets? No. Some may believe that under hypnosis they will be forced to reveal secrets about themselves or others. However, as a person is aware of everything while being hypnotized, this can not happen. People may speak if necessary, but may tell untruths if they wish.
Will I always stay in a state of Hypnosis? No. There are some people that believe that once hypnotized, they will never come out of it. Since the person uses the aid of their imagination to induce the trance themselves, the person may come out of the trance whenever necessary. A person will not stay in a state of unguided hypnosis for more than 60-90 minutes.
Can Hypnosis help me overcome personal obstacles? YES!
Will hypnosis interfere with my religion? No, it shouldn't. When performed by a trained hypnotist, all respects are given to a person's particular religion. A hypnotist is only someone highly trained to help people overcome personal challenges.
What is a regression? A regression is a state of heightened awareness in which an individual may recall events that may have been forgotten. Many times a regression is used to get to the root of the problem so that it may become resolved on a subconscious level. Once resolved the situation will no longer affect the person.
