HI!  My name is Leslie Duncan and I enjoy helping others with the aid of hypnosis.  I am certified with the National Guild of Hypnotists and have extensive training in handling all aspects of hypnosis.  I have always been fascinated by the way the human mind works.  The mind is complex, vast, and very powerful.  The human mind is not an exact science.  Because each individual is unique (how boring would the world be if we were all the same?) a lot of care and consideration is taken for each individual.  I am a very empathetic and caring person and I feel that it is my life's mission to help as many people as possible.  I truly feel a calling to this profession. I have witnessed the powerful effects hypnosis can have for someone wanting to better their lives.  I began self-hypnotization without even knowing that I was doing it.  On April 3, 1997 I was in a very serious car accident and broke my pelvis in many areas.  I had remembered something that I had read about cancer patients and how they could improve their white blood counts by their thoughts.  Knowing how my pelvis looked (broken) and knowing what a normal pelvis looked like, I began to imagine my bones fusing together.  I would also imagine myself being able to walk unassisted.  I spent hours every day doing this.  Two weeks after the accident I was walking in a straight line.  Three weeks after the accident I was walking 2-3 miles a day on a track.  At that point in my life I became fascinated with how strong the human mind can be.  Another event happened years later.  I had gone to all of the childbirth classes and was prepared for a "typical" labor.  I was expecting no more than 24 hours with this being the birth of my first child.  Normal hospital procedure will not allow an epidural before a woman dialates to four cm.  I had to remember what I had learned in the classes and also reverted back to the method in which I used to deal with the pain of my broken pelvis.  I was in labor for 35 hours before I was given an epidural.  I understand that some women have very weak labor, but this was not the case.  My daughter was "sunny side up", meaning that with every contraction her chin dug into my spine.  I handled this situation completely free of screaming, yelling or any other energy wasting activities.  I ran into a friend of mine a few years later and shared my story.  She was six months pregnant and I told her what I had done to alleviate the pain.  Most women approach childbirth with the knowledge that they will have an epidural.  Sometimes, you are not given that choice.  Sometimes the labor is very long and intense (as mine had been) or extremely short and not enough time is given to allow the epidural to take effect.  I ran into my friend when her daughter was 18 months old.  She told me that I was with her during the entire delivery of her daughter.  She had remembered the words that I had told her and because her labor was very short she had a natural childbirth experience.  At that moment, I knew what I needed to do with my life.   I began reading as much as possible about self-healing.  I am extremely passionate about helping people use their own minds heal themselves.  Our minds are powerful and capable of achieving anything.  Our minds may achieve what science can not explain.

I AM PROUDLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE HYPNOBIRTHING INSTITUTE AND THE NATIONAL GUILD OF HYPNOTISTS.
