Study find that Hypnosis is an effective tool in the treatment of IBS
In the first long term study of its kind, hypnosis was found to relive symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome in 71% of patients tested. The results of this study concluded, Dr. Wendy Gonsalkorale, of the Whithington Hospital in Manchester, England "That hypnosis is a viable option for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome." More than 200 patients with IBS were involved in this study. Each patient underwent 12 one-hour hypnosis sessions as a part of their treatment plan. The majority of these patients experienced improvement of their symptoms and decreased the amount of medication used to threat the syndrome. They also reported a better quality of life with less depression and anxiety.
